The Recovery Resources mission is to provide quality, ethical services for the treatment of alcoholism and chemical dependency. Recovery Resources is dedicated to providing affordable, individualized solutions to problems associated with alcohol and drug use. The goal of Recovery Resources is to liberate sufferers from the chains of addiction and assist them in the process of rebuilding their lives.
Recovery Resources was founded on April 1st 1999 by Rick and Jerri Thompson. They were not strangers to the recovery field. At the time they founded Recovery Resources each of them had been employed by agencies in the past and they had a passion to provide treatment in their community for a population that is under served. They wanted to provide a private, confidential, ethical and effective treatment solution to this disease. Rick is NADC-I,CADC-II, ICADC and SAP certified. He has been a substance abuse specialist for adults, adolescents and families since 1987. Jerri is a NADC-I, CADC-II, ICADC, SAP certified. She has been a substance abuse specialist since 1994.
Since April 1st 1999, Recovery Resources staff grew from its two founders to a team of qualified professionals. With its capability to provide a variety of recovery services, the company continued to expand its role in the treatment of substance abuse in Tulare County. Soon Recovery Resources contracted with local school districts to provide a variety of services. The agency designed and implemented programs for alcohol and drug education and prevention, tobacco education and cessation, career development, and parenting. Recovery Resources was also asked to administer drug tests and provides assessments for the athletics program of a local high school district. In a few short years, Recovery Resources compiled an impressive list of agencies that have been served, past and present. As Recovery Resources has grown, it has continued to build a solid reputation for quality, ethical service—a reputation that is highly respected in both the professional and recovering communities.
Jerri has been certified since 1998. Jerri gained her experience working as a family service coordinator for the Tulare County Alcoholism Counsel, Visalia, CA and a chemical dependency counselor for Sierra Recovery Services in Lindsay, CA. She is currently the Director of Recovery Resources Adult Services.
Jerri is also a Substance Abuse Professional (S.A.P.) certified by ICRC and NAADAC to perform DOT assessments.
A substance abuse counselor for adults, adolescents and families since 1988, Rick has served in that capacity at both Pine Recovery Center and Turning Point Youth Services in Visalia, CA. He had also been the Adolescent Program Coordinator for Sierra Recovery Services in Lindsay CA. Rick is currently the Director of Adolescent Treatment Services for Recovery Resources and former CEO of A S.T.E.P., Inc..
Meet Our Team
CADC-II, ICADC, SAP
Jerri is currently the Adult Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Treatment Director and Clinical Coordinator for Treatment Services. She facilitates the family group in the intensive outpatient adult program and the adult IOP aftercare group. She is also certified to conduct DOT and NON-DOT chemical dependency assessments.
In addition to S.A.P and IOP treatment, Jerri is active in the community educating spreading awareness about substance abuse. She continues to be an invaluable asset to local agencies, schools and other substance abuse professionals by acting as a consultant on drug and alcohol use policies and engaging in various public speaking events.
CADC-II, ICADC, SAP
Rick is the Director of Adolescent Treatment and Prevention Services for Recovery Resources. Rick meets with adolescents individually and with their families to assist in beginning the counseling/treatment process. He is the onsite counselor in Exeter Unified School District for Kaweah High School and Exeter High School. In Visalia Unified School District he is the onsite counselor for El Diamante High School. He provides both NON-DOT and DOT assessments.
Mike Reece will most likely be the first person you talk to when you call Recovery Resources. Mike will book your appointments, verify your insurance benefits and processes payments. His goal is to calm your nerves and assist you in any way he can.
Ryan Bertao began working with Recovery Resources in 2016. Since that time he has worked in the adult IOP and adolescent program as an onsite counselor at Tulare Joint Union High School District, Visalia Unified School District, while working to complete his goal of becoming a licensed therapist in a LMFT program.
Teri Dortman began working at Recovery Resources in 2018 learning all of the facets of our organization. Her professional background is in nursing and anesthesia and she is now interested in alcohol, drug and mental health treatment. She is in the process of obtaining a master’s in social work and a CCAPP certification. She is working as a prevention specialist at various school sites in Tulare County and is in training in the adult intensive outpatient program.
Beverly Anderson, LMFT, worked with Recovery Resources in our adolescent treatment program in 2014 and has returned to our agency to function as the mental health clinician in our adult intensive outpatient treatment program providing mental health assessments for our clients and to be the lead facilitator for our family group twice a month.
With her vast knowledge of Addiction, Depression, Anxiety, Developmental Delays, Couples and Family Therapy, Parenting, Attachment Disorders, Women’s Issues, Trauma, PTSD, Domestic Violence and Adolescents; her expertise assists our treatment team in providing the best quality of care for our clients.
As a result of working with The Source, which is an LGBTQ Resource Center in Visalia, CA as Clinical Consultant, she has developed the necessary cultural sensitivity awareness for the LGBTQ clients.
Ms. Anderson also has a private practice in Visalia in addition to the services she offers on site at our facility.
Chanel Guerra started working at Recovery Resources in November of 2018. She has a passion to help people, she has a natural ability to build rapport with our clients. She completed her bachelor’s in behavioral science and human services August 2018. She is in the process of completing her CCAPP certification. Chanel is working as a prevention specialist at various school sites in Tulare County. She is a co-facilitator in the adult intensive outpatient program.
