Some
History
Recovery Resources was started in 1999 by Rick and Jerri Thompson. They
were not strangers to the recovery field. At the time, they had a combined
total of over 20 years experience in the treatment of chemical dependency.
Rick is a ICADC-II
+ SAP and has been a substance abuse counselor
for adults, adolescents and families for 20 years. He had served in
that capacity at both Pine Recovery Center and Turning Point Youth Services
in Visalia, Calif. He had also been the adolescent program coordinator
for the Sierra Recovery Services in Lindsay CA. Rick is currently the
director of programs for Recovery Resources and CEO of A
S.T.E.P., Inc..
Jerri, also
a ICADC-II + SAP, had gained
her experience working as a family service coordinator for the Tulare
County Alcoholism Counsel, a co-facilitator for Aware Drug Treatment
in Visalia, California and a chemical dependency counselor for Sierra
Recovery Services in Lindsay, Calif. She is currently the program coordinator
for Recovery Resources and
Director of women's services for A S.T.E.P,
Inc.. Jerri is also
a Substance Abuse Professional (S.A.P.) certified by ICRC, NAADACto perform
DOT assessments.
Since April
1, 1999, Recovery
Resources staff grew from its two founders to a team of qualified
professionals. The acquisition of bilingual staff members allowed Recovery
Resources to more effectively serve its Spanish-speaking clients. With
its capability to provide a variety of recovery services, the firm continued
to expand its role in the treatment of substance abuse in Tulare County.
In addition
to providing quality private treatment for alcoholism
and chemical dependency, Recovery Resources has consistently provided
assessments and referals to compliment the clients treatment needs.
They have two certified S.A.P.'s to conduct DOT assessments.
Soon Recovery
Resources contracted with local school districts and human services
agencies to provide a variety of services. The agency designed and implemented
programs for alcohol and drug education and prevention, tobacco education
and cessation, career development, and parenting. Recovery Resources
was also asked to administer drug tests and provides assessments for
the athletics program of a local high school district.
In a few short
years, Recovery Resources compiled an impressive list of agencies that
have been served, past and present, which has grown to include the following:
-
Delano Regional Medical
Center
-
Exeter School District
-
